“Oi... I haven't got all day here, lass...” the grumble coming from outside made Sam quickly go to pick her shopping bags... Finn had been nice enough to help her out with the heavy lifting – as climbing up some five flights of stairs with the groceries wasn't exactly her definition of fun – and it wasn't right to keep him waiting... even if that meant that she had to run up the stairs it was worth it... not every neighborhood came with an inbuilt charming, tall and friendly guy and so she was surely going to cling to the stroke of luck however she could.
“Y-Yeah... I'm coming...” Sam wheezed out and started for the window.
Yeah, the window... Finn kinda brought the 'tall' part of the deal to an extreme... and so when Sam opened the window she saw her bags of groceries hovering just outside, firmly supported by a hand that was way longer and way broader than the woman was tall, the rest of the red-headed giant stretching to fill the view out of her window as Finn squatted outside.
Sam quickly started to get back her shopping bags and set them down the table, deciding that it was best to worry about putting stuff away when she didn't have a huge pouting man pretending to be getting worn out by the groceries' weight while waiting outside the window, but as she reached to snatch up the last bag, Finn's hand shot away and out of reach.
“Ack! Hey!” Sam yelled as her eyes shifted from the bag remaining teasingly farther than arm's length to the big pools of green that the giant's eyes were “What's the big idea, huh?” the woman asked... even if she recognized the playful look in those titanic eyes, and knew that it meant that the big idea was 'Just messin' with ye, lass.'
“What if I wanted t'keep th'last bag, Sam?” Finn asked, squatting lower down to look straight at the woman.
“Finn!” she just called out, torn between angry, exasperated and with a hint of chuckling in there as she knew that he wasn't really going to run with her hard-won supplies.
“Oi, they smell yummy, ye know?” Finn continued, flashing a contented smirk after taking a quick sniff at the bag that looked so incredibly tiny when compared to the vast expanse of his body.
“Yeah... and they're mine.” Sam pointed out with a sigh.
“Na even a share left t'th'valiant helper here? Ye're heartless...” Finn chuckled “As I said: What if I wanted t'keep it?”
“Well... I can't really force you to give it back, I guess.” Sam said, shrugging in defeat and grinning as she heard a purr escape from the titan's throat “But... it'll mean war, Finn.”
“Got me shakin' in m'boots, lass.” Finn purred darkly, his charming features twisting to what could have been an evil, threatening grin if not for the playful light still in his eyes.
“For starters... no more waffles.” Sam decreed, enjoying greatly seeing Finn's expression freeze with shock before switching to panic.
“Oi... ye dun mean that, right?” the giant asked, starting to feel cornered.
“You better believe me, big guy.” in fact, making waffles for the immense brute always was somewhat of a chore... but it was Sam's way of showing her appreciation for the help he gave her. Since... well, it was hard to just offer him to drop by her place for a bite or something as Finn just couldn't fit in there.
“That's so evil, Sam.” Finn pouted, swiftly shifting his gaze between the bag in his hand and Sam, until he finally sighed “Here's yer bag, lady... So please, have mercy!” he concluded pleadingly, bowing his head.
“We'll see...” Sam took the last bag from the titan's hand with a snobbish expression, soon turning around to deposit it along with the others on her table.
And then they both started laughing.
Talking like that to a giant would have been a one-way ticket to hell normally... which was why they weren't the most welcome of neighbors. But Sam knew that she could dare with Finn, that he wasn't that kind of giant.
And so... he certainly was someone she had to cling to with all her might.

Chapter 7
The circus a flurry of activity that morning. Tents were collapsed and rolled up, furniture and props loaded onto wagons, and beasts of burden being hitched up. Someone always needed a hand with something and Dara scarcely had time to think.
Occasionally she would walk past the giant's tent, which was the last thing to be collapsed and prepped for travel. She heard him in there, weeping quietly. Each time she fought the urge to go in and comfort him. Doing so would only make it worse, she reminded herself. She had spoiled him with her visits, and going in there now would only make it harder for him to adjust to their separation. I

Chapter 1
"Welcome, Dara!" Leo said, embracing his niece. "How was your trip?"
"It was fine, thanks," Dara said. Leo was her late mother's elder sibling, although she saw only a fleeting resemblance, perhaps because her uncle wore the large, bushy mustache that was traditional to ringmasters of Alorian. He was a tall man, and of solid build. He stood roughly a head taller than his nineteen year old niece, and was finer dressed as well. Her plain white shirt, brown leather vest, green denim pants, and worn boots paled in comparison to his pristine white suit coat and polished black boots. Even his dark hair, its shade only a tad darker than

Chapter 13
Gavin awoke hours later to the sound of someone entering the room. He opened his eyes, focusing on the middle aged giantess. She was holding a meal tray that looked like a banquet to Gavin, though in reality it was just a standard giant breakfast.
"Ah, good. You're awake," she said, setting a tray of food on the beside table. "Think you're well enough to eat something?"
"Uh..." he said apprehensively. He glanced down at Dara, who was still asleep.
She chuckled slightly, rolling her eyes. "Don't worry, you'll have plenty of time to cuddle later," she teased good-naturedly.
Gavin blushed. "Oh, we're not-"
She held up a hand. "N
